"The Great Commandment" (1940)

A milestone in the history of Christian Media, The Great Commandment is a 1939 American Christian film produced by Cathedral Films and Rev. James K. Friedrich, which portrays the conversion to Christianity of a young Zealot, Joel, and the Roman soldier Longinus through the teachings of Jesus in his Parable of the Good Samaritan. It was released by Cathedral Films in 1939 followed by a theatrical release was in 1941 by Twentieth Century Fox.

This print of "The Great Commandment" was shared with FBSM by the Gospel Film Archives, a growing repository of Christian films and TV programs made to share the Good News across the 20th century.

The GFA has completed a number of DVD collections and also has media available for streaming at https://christianmovieclassics.com/. I am extremely grateful for their support and highly encourage the support of their ministry.
